Following these important guidelines will help extend the life of your magnetic signs. Please give us a call if you have any further questions.
Surface Preparation:
The vehicle's surface should be waxed a minimum of 48 hours prior to applying your magnetic sign. For new vehicles or newly painted vehicles, allow approximately 90 days for the paint to totally cure before applying. Wipe the surface of the vehicle with a clean dry cloth before application and make sure that all grime, dust and dirt has been removed.
Installation:
It is ideal to apply your magnetic sign when the temperature of the magnet is near room temperature or at about 68 degrees F. Carefully align one edge of the magnet to the vehicle's surface. Allow the remainder of the sheet to apply itself to the vehicle's surface. Do not allow any air pockets to form under the magnet. If it isn't aligned properly, be sure to completely remove the sheeting and start over again. Do not pull or drag the magnetic sign to realign. This can damage both the magnetic and your vehicle's paint job.
Removal:
Remove your magnetic sign daily to guard against moisture and dirt buildup. On vehicles, it is recommended to remove daily to ensure that the vehicle and the magnetic sign surfaces are clean and free of roadway debris. Dirt and moisture trapped between the magnetic sign and your vehicle can damage the finish.
Cleaning:
Clean your magnetic sign with a mild detergent as well as the metallic surface it is being re-applied to, wipe with a soft cloth and allow to dry. This will help to lengthen the life of your magnetic sign and help protect the surface of your vehicle.
Storage:
It is recommended to store your magnetic sign in a clean dry area at room temperature or about 68 degrees F. If rolling, roll with printed or non-magnetic side out. Store on end to avoid any flat spots. When storing magnetic flat, store on a clean, smooth, flat surface. Do not stack magnetic side to magnetic side due to the potentional of wrinkling caused by improper pole alignment.
Rated Speed:
Your magnetic material is speed rated at approximately 55-65mph going faster then this speed may cause the magnetics to come off the vehicle. It is ideal to have your magnetic sign flat on the vehicle and not overlapping any trim or recessed areas on the vehicle. Avoid using on repainted surfaces, non-metallic body fillers and wood grain vinyl siding.
