Plastics: Plastics are inherently flexible and can be used for a wide variety of applications. Acrylic (also known as Plexiglas) is one of the most popular options when it comes to higher end quality plastic signs. One of our most popular sellers acrylic is used in lightbox sign faces, directory signs, 3D Letters, and many more! Another option would be Polycarbonite (also known as Lexan) which is a more impact resistant type of substrate and wont crack or shatter upon impact unlike acrylic. Polycarbonite is more typically used in lightboxes because it comes in rolls - rather then limited lengths like acrylic. Architectural ADA signs use a combination of the above materials. Phenolic (photo-polymer) is a low cost option for making the grade 2 brallie on ADA type signage which makes it a good choice over more expensive injection moulded plastics. PVC is another popular option. PVC comes in a variety of thicknesses and has a extremely wide palette of uses. Pretty much any sign type can be fashioned out of low cost PVC material. Coroplast (Corrugated Plastic) is a very popular low-low cost material choice for limited exposure signage. 4MM Coroplast is typically used for yard signs with metal step stakes. It can also be used for sign spinners if you go up to 10MM Coroplast.
Wood: If wood is to be used the optimal material would be Redwood. Wood can be carved, routed, or sand-blasted, as well as painted or stained. Perfect for professional exterior or interior custom-made business signs. There is a shift in the industry right now with more and more wood signs moving towards plastics or foams. Typically they use PVC, Resin, and/or Hard Foam Board materials which are painted over and look similar to wood. The reason for this shift is these materials bring down the cost and increase the durablity of the sign.
Vinyl: Vinyl is weather-proof and durable. Use vinyl anywhere, as it has ultimate flexibility, indoors and out. Vinyl is one of the most commonly used materials. Its on vehicles in the form of wraps, racing stripes, perforated window graphics & cut letters. It can be applied just about anywhere the only limit is your imagination. You can also print on vinyl material and protect it with a UV Overlaminate to extend the life of your sign. There are two basic grades of vinyl - one is calendarded vinyl which is shorter term vinyl that will gradually shrink over time, the other higher grade vinyl is cast which wont shrink over time and is highly recommended for long term & vehicle graphics.
Metal: Aluminum and other metals are used in our dimensional and channel letter signs and any illuminated box signs. Aluminum has replaced Steel for most customers signage needs. Aluminum is lighter then steel and won't rust. You may want steel in cases where you want to put magnetic advertising on your signs. Metals are important in creating professional exterior custom-made business signs.
Neon: Neon has been a very popular choice for bright and bold illuminated signs. Many people enjoy the nostalgic and artistic appeal of neon signs. Neon are gas filled tubes which give out light in 360 degrees. In the last few years neon signs have been rapidly replaced by LEDs.
LED: (Light-emitting diode) LEDs are rapidly replacing neon signs in many areas. The reason for the shift is because- LEDs are far more energy efficient - up to 70% less energy then Neon, less insurance risk since theres a reduced chance of a fire hazard, easy to maintain and replace, and they can be cheaper then comparable neon signs. In the end LED lights tend to be brighter, and will be the future of lighted signs.
Concrete/Stone: When only a sturdy, long-lasting monument sign will do, concrete and stone will create a perfect symbol of mastery in your field. We can do real or faux stone. The advantage of faux is that the cost is reduced drastically. It is difficult to tell which are the real thing and which are not. The majority of businesses are shifting to this method since it makes signs easier to replace and transport to new locations if required.
